這款奔富酒廠釀造的特殊加烈酒『Penfolds Lot. 518 Spirited Wine with Baijiu』他的特殊性來自於加入了『中式白酒』，或許是為了創新？或許是中西融合？
或許是為了喝慣中式白酒的華人市場？還是話題性什麼的？？？
不論奔富的出發點是什麼？單論他酒的本質確實是一款有趣的『加烈酒』。
首先他的做法一開始與一般葡萄加烈酒並沒有差異，使用的是Barossa的Shiraz先做一般葡萄酒的釀造，在發酵未完成前就先加入中性的白蘭地做加烈到18~19%，然後在木桶中熟成，最後才會加入在澳洲釀造的『中式白酒』做混合，所以酒精度高達21.5%。
風味上有他一定的趣味，一開始會有一些醬香型的中式白酒風味，我跟蔡瑋竑討論了一下，我們一致認為需要醒酒，在杯中醒酒約過30分鐘讓醬香風味散去後，Shiraz的本色便開始展現他的風華，你會聞到很明顯的花香調（諸如玫瑰、紫羅蘭與白花等等），然後是紅色漿果、櫻桃、辛香料與胡椒等風味，飽滿的風味帶點微烈的口感，在口中仍然感覺到一些高粱的風味存在，尾韻顯的更加溫潤一些，口感有點類似澳洲的『年份波特』風格加烈酒，醒酒30分鐘到一小時，整體的花香與香水調性更明顯。
